Tablet PC IC Certification Application Process
Recently, I've been frequently asked about Canadian certification. Actually, Canada's wireless certification is called IC certification. Today, we'll discuss the IC certification application process.
First, it's important to understand that the IC certification model is similar to the US FCC certification. So, let's first discuss the application process for an ID number: applying for a CN (company number) and creating an IC ID.
The IC ID format is CN-UPN. The CN must be applied for and randomly assigned by the IC; the UPN is the product CN/UPN. The ID consists of no more than eight digits, "0-9" and "A-Z." This ID structure is similar to the FCC ID number.
However, there are some differences from FCC certification. You must provide the company code of your local Canadian distributor, which isn't required in the US.
Next, let's discuss testing. Of course, testing must be conducted according to the product's supported functions and the corresponding standards. This is the same requirement for all certifications. It's the most basic requirement.
After testing is complete, the laboratory will issue a test report, compile technical documentation, and submit the relevant application forms.
Finally, there's another important step. Submit to FCB for review. Once approved, the IC ID will be listed on the IC website. This step must be completed by an authoritative and experienced laboratory. Many certification agencies are not familiar with submitting IC certifications.
