Switching Power Supply CB Certification Requirements
CB is a product certification mutual recognition program widely adopted by countries across five continents. It signifies that certified electrical products comply with IEC standards. The CB Scheme is recognized by both CB member countries and non-CB member countries and regions worldwide. Initially established in 1961, the CB Scheme focused solely on safety certification, but now includes EMC standards.
Currently, there are 53 CB member countries, as follows:
Americas: United States, Canada,
Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Colombia.
Africa: South Africa, Kenya, Nigeria
Asia: China, South Korea, Japan, India, Thailand, Pakistan, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Israel, Vietnam, and the United Arab Emirates.
Europe: UK, Ireland, Sweden, Spain, Germany, Russia, Norway, Portugal, France, Switzerland, Austria, Hungary, Finland, Italy, Denmark, Ukraine, Netherlands, Belgium, Poland, Turkey, Slovakia, Belarus, Greece, Serbia, Croatia, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Slovenia
Oceania: Australia, New Zealand
Advantages of CB Certification
The CB Mutual Recognition Scheme effectively saves the time and cost of repeated testing. Generally, manufacturers obtain a CB test report and certificate issued by an organization and, after adjusting for differences in the country of import, can easily convert the report into a locally recognized test report. Local certification can be applied for with a small additional fee.

CB Certified Product Scope
Miscellaneous (MISC), Information Technology and Office Equipment, 10F Low-Voltage High-Power Switchgear, (POW) Installation Protection Equipment (PROT), Safety Transformers and Similar Equipment (SAFE), Portable Power Tools (TOOL), Electronic Entertainment Equipment (TRON), Electrical Wires and Cables (CABL), Capacitors as Components (CAP), Appliance Switches and Automatic Controllers for Household Appliances (CONT), (E3), Household and Similar Appliances (HOUS), Installation Accessories and Connectors (INST), Lighting Equipment (LITE).
Documents Required for CB Certification:
1. Product Instruction Manual
2. Safety design documents (including key structural drawings, i.e., drawings showing creepage distances, clearances, number of insulation layers, and thickness)
3. Product technical specifications (or company standards)
4. Product electrical schematic
5. Product circuit diagram
6. List of key components or raw materials (Please choose products with European certification marks, such as CE, VDE, ENEC, etc.).
7. Copies of device or component certifications.
8. Other required documents.
Use of CB Test Certificates
CB test certificates are known as the "master key to international certification of electrical products." However, CB certificates are only valid when used in conjunction with CB test reports. Certificate holders can directly use the CB certificate and test report to obtain national recognition in other member countries of the CB Scheme.
CB Certificate Validity Period
The IECEE does not specify the validity period of CB test certificates. However, recognized NCBs (National Certification Bodies) will typically object to CB certificates issued more than three years ago.

Beginning with IEC, such as IEC60958, etc.
Can a CE certificate be converted to a CB certificate?
In principle, yes. For example, if your CE certificate was issued in April and you need CB certification in May, you can convert to a CB certificate by performing additional testing and paying the difference testing fees. The specific details will depend on whether the CB issuing body is CBTL accredited and the laboratory's internal opinion.
CB Certificate Features
Three Nos: No validity period (However, when transferring certificates, some organizations assume that product test data is valid for three years), no factory inspection, and no annual certificate fee.
Supplementary Information on CB Certification
1. The applicant can be either a manufacturer or an entity authorized to represent the manufacturer.
2. The application can include one or more factories producing the product in one or more countries.
