What is SABER Certification?
Saudi SABER Certification is a product certification system developed by the Saudi Standards and Quality Organization (SASO) to ensure that products sold in Saudi Arabia comply with its standards and regulations and to protect consumer rights. SABER certification applies to a wide range of products, including electronics, food and beverages, cosmetics, toys, building materials, and household appliances. SABER certification allows products to obtain a certificate issued by SASO, demonstrating compliance with Saudi laws, regulations, and standards, facilitating market entry and business expansion.
In 2020, Saudi SABER Certification underwent several significant changes, including the following:
1. Implementation of a new registration system: Applicants must register on the SABER system before submitting certification applications.
2. Reorganization of product categories: The original 61 product categories were consolidated into 24 to streamline the registration and certification process.
3. Merger of the Certificate of Uniqueness (CoC) and Registration Certificate (RC): The combined certificate, called the "Certificate of Uniqueness Registration (CR)," is valid for three years and can be renewed online.
4. Detailed product information and documentation must be submitted on the SABER system, including product specifications, test reports, certification certificates, and photos.
These changes make the SABER certification process more transparent, efficient, automated, and digital, helping companies gain faster market access in Saudi Arabia and enhancing the credibility and transparency of the certification process.
The specific details of Saudi SABER certification requirements may vary depending on the product type, but generally include the following:
1. The product must comply with relevant Saudi National Standards (SASO) and the Quality and Technical Management System (QMS) regulations.
2. The applicant company must hold a business license and relevant trade permits in Saudi Arabia.
3. Detailed product information and documentation must be submitted, including product specifications, test reports, certification certificates, and photos.
4. For food and beverage products, proof of origin and health certificates are also required.
5. Testing must be conducted by a designated Saudi laboratory, and a Saudi-recognized laboratory test report must be obtained.
6. Successful SABER certification will result in a unique product registration certificate (CR) issued by SASO.
It should be noted that different product types may have additional specific requirements. Therefore, it is recommended to follow the guidance of Saudi SABER certification and ensure that your products comply with all relevant regulations.
