The ABB REG216 is a digital protection device specifically designed for the protection of generators and block transformers.

Functional Features

Comprehensive Protection Functions: Equipped with overcurrent protection, undervoltage protection, overvoltage protection, reverse power protection, generator differential protection, underfrequency protection, etc., which can effectively prevent faults in generator sets and transformers and ensure their stable operation.
Flexible Configuration: Adopting modular hardware and software design, it can extremely flexibly adapt to the scale of the primary system and the required protection scheme through the combination of software libraries and hardware modules. Different degrees of redundant configurations can be selected according to actual application requirements to improve the availability and reliability of protection.
Real-time Monitoring and Data Processing: It can collect various operation data of generators and transformers in real time, such as voltage, current, frequency, etc., and perform full digital signal processing. Meanwhile, it has the functions of event display, confirmation, and print output, and can also carry out self-monitoring through cyclic test programs to ensure the reliability and performance optimization of hardware.
Good Compatibility: With standard interfaces, it is compatible with different process control systems and can exchange data with higher-level process control systems, such as unidirectionally reporting digital status, events, measured values, and protection parameters, etc., supporting communication protocols such as IEC 61850 and Modbus TCP.
