How much does it cost to apply for IEC62368 CB certification of the IECEE international system for chargers and the testing process
CB certification is a global product safety mutual recognition system established by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). The certification bodies of each member country of IECEE test the safety performance of electrical products based on IEC standards, and their test results, namely CB test reports and CB test certificates, are mutually recognized in each member country of IECEE. As of now, IECEE has 53 member countries and more than 60 national certification body members participating in the CB system. The IEC62368-1 standard is an international standard for electronic equipment safety of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), which is applicable to various types of electronic and electrical equipment, including chargers. The standard is based on the concept of hazard-oriented safety and emphasizes the prevention of potential hazards during design, manufacturing and use. It replaces the old version of IEC60950 (information technology equipment) and IEC60065 (audio and video equipment).
Benefits of certification
1. Convert foreign certification certificates: After obtaining the CB test certificate and report, you can directly apply for certification certificates from other countries. The certification body of the country of application will review it (provide a small number of samples if necessary). If the review is qualified, it can obtain the certification of the country, without the need for additional testing according to the regulations and procedural rules of the country of application, and such certification applications based on CB test certificates and reports will be given priority, reducing the application cycle and cost.
2. Direct export or approval: With CB test certificates and reports, products can be directly exported to certain countries.
3. Increase the certainty of product test passing: After the enterprise obtains the CB test certificate, when applying for certification in other countries, all or most of the CB test results are recognized, which can exempt or reduce re-sampling tests, saving time and costs, and increasing the certainty of product passing difference tests.
4. Increase the competitiveness of products in the international market
Process of CB certification for chargers
Submit application: Fill in the CB test certificate application form in English. The application form should include basic information such as the applicant's name, address, contact information, etc. If the applicant is not a manufacturer, the manufacturer's name and address and other information must be provided.
Prepare samples and send them: Prepare samples of chargers according to the requirements of the certification body (Qstlab007) and send them to the designated testing laboratory.
Product testing: The testing laboratory conducts various tests on the charger according to relevant standards such as IEC62368, including but not limited to basic performance testing, environmental testing, electrical characteristics, basic safety, safety testing, mechanical strength testing, etc. (specifically, there are projects such as drop, impact, stability, temperature rise, capacitor discharge, insulation resistance, and national difference design). If there is a problem with the sample during the test, the product needs to be rectified and retested.
Issue a draft report: After the test is completed, the laboratory will issue a draft test report, which includes information such as the test results, data, and conclusions on whether it meets the standards.
Report review and confirmation: The applicant confirms the draft report and checks whether the information in the report is accurate. If there are any problems, communicate with the certification body in a timely manner and make modifications.
Certificate issuance: After the report is reviewed and approved, the engineer of the certification body will submit the report to the certification body for final review. After the review is passed, the certification body will issue a CB certificate.
