Product Description
Working principle
The communication principle of VME bus: MVME167PA-36SE communicates with other modules through the VME bus. It supports the VMEbus master/slave interface. It can act as the master device to actively initiate data transmission and also act as the slave device to respond to requests from other master devices. The P2 connector of the VME bus is used to connect the I/O of this module. P2 also provides up to 16-bit data for 32-bit data transmission and up to 8-bit address lines for extended addressing modes. The module transmits addresses, data and control signals on the VME bus through these lines to achieve data interaction and collaborative work with other modules in the system.
Data storage principle: The module is equipped with 128KB of static RAM (SRAM), which can be used for temporarily storing programs and data, and supports an optional battery backup function. When the main power supply fails, it is powered by the battery and the power supply is switched through the Dallas DS1210S non-volatile controller chip to ensure that the data in the SRAM is not lost, so that the working state can be quickly restored after the system is powered off and restarted.
The principle of data processing and transmission: The module may integrate the corresponding processor or processing circuit to process the input data. For example, it contains a SCSI large-capacity storage bus interface and a DMA controller. The SCSI DMA controller uses a FIFO (First-In-First-Out) buffer to connect the 8-bit SCSI bus with the 32-bit local bus. It can efficiently transfer data from the SCSI bus to the local bus in the form of four long characters burst, achieve data exchange with external SCSI storage devices, and quickly read or store a large amount of data.
External control and status monitoring principle: The module is equipped with a remote status and control connector J3, which is a 20-pin connector located behind the front panel. Through this connector, system designers can flexibly access key indicators and reset functions, and can build a reset/LED panel that is far away from the module itself, facilitating remote control and status monitoring of the module. They can understand the working status of the module in real time and perform reset and other operations promptly when abnormalities occur.
Principle of Signal processing In terms of signal processing, the module follows specific signal level standards. High-level signals need to be between + 3 and + 15 volts, and low-level signals should be between -3 and -15 volts to ensure the correct transmission and recognition of signals when connected to other devices, in compliance with the EIA-232-D specification. Avoid communication failures caused by signal level issues.
Application
Production line data collection and monitoring
In the automotive parts processing production line, this module connects sensors (such as temperature and pressure sensors) and actuators via the VME bus to collect equipment operation parameters (such as motor speed and processing accuracy) in real time, and interacts with local storage devices through the SCSI interface to store production data. Meanwhile, the remote start and stop of the production line and fault reset are realized through the remote control interface (J3 connector) to ensure the continuity of production. For instance, in the injection molding machine control system, the collection frequency of process parameters can be increased to 100Hz to ensure that the product qualification rate exceeds 98%.
Complex mechanical motion control
For multi-axis linkage control of CNC machine tools, the module processes the feedback signal from the encoder and generates control instructions in combination with the internal algorithm to drive the servo motor to achieve precise positioning. Its SCSI DMA controller can efficiently transmit processing program data, support high-speed processing of complex curved surface parts, and the positioning accuracy can reach ±0.01mm.
Telecommunication base station signal processing
In the baseband processing unit of the cellular base station, the module is responsible for processing the digital signals from the radio frequency unit and collaborates with other boards through the VME bus to complete signal decoding, encoding and protocol conversion. For example, in 4G base stations, multi-channel data parallel processing can be supported, with a throughput of over 100Mbps, ensuring stable communication between the base station and the core network.
Satellite communication ground station terminal
As the control core of the ground station, the module receives the downlink data of the satellite, stores and parses it through the SCSI interface, and simultaneously encodes the uplink instructions and sends them to the satellite. Its remote condition monitoring function can provide real-time feedback on parameters such as antenna pointing Angle and signal strength, ensuring the reliability of the communication link.
Control of medical imaging equipment
In nuclear magnetic resonance (MRI) equipment, the module is used to control the switching of the gradient magnetic field and the emission timing of radio frequency pulses, and interacts data with the image reconstruction unit through the VME bus. Its non-volatile storage (battery backup SRAM) can save the device calibration parameters. After power failure and restart, there is no need for recalibration, reducing the device's startup preparation time to within 5 minutes.
