GE IS/IC/DS series modules
Core function
Power conversion and voltage stabilization
Convert the input AC power supply (usually 120VAC or 230VAC) into a stable DC voltage (such as 24VDC) to supply power to other modules in the control system (such as controllers, I/O cards, communication modules).
The built-in voltage stabilizing circuit ensures that the output voltage remains stable when the load changes or the input voltage fluctuates. The typical voltage stabilizing accuracy can reach ±1%.
Redundant power supply support
Supports multi-module parallel redundancy configuration (typically 2+1 or N+1 redundancy). When a single power module fails, other modules can continue to supply power to the system, enhancing system reliability.
It is equipped with an automatic current equalization function to ensure load balancing between parallel power supply modules and extend the service life of the modules.
Fault monitoring and alarm
Real-time monitoring of output parameters such as voltage, current and temperature is carried out. When an abnormality (such as overvoltage, undervoltage, overcurrent or overheating) is detected, an alarm signal is immediately triggered.
The power status is fed back to the control system through LED indicator lights or communication interfaces (such as dry contact output), facilitating the timely detection and handling of faults.
Surge and short circuit protection
Built-in surge suppression circuit to protect the module from the impact of power grid surges.
It is equipped with short-circuit protection function. When a short circuit occurs at the output terminal, it will automatically limit the current and enter the protection state. After the short circuit is eliminated, it can automatically resume normal operation.
Performance Introduction
High efficiency and stability: It adopts high-efficiency power conversion technology, with high energy conversion efficiency, ensuring stable power output and providing reliable power support for related equipment.
Multiple protections: It is equipped with multiple protection functions such as overcurrent protection, overvoltage protection, and overload protection, which can effectively prevent damage to the system and equipment caused by abnormal current and voltage, ensuring the safe operation of the equipment.
Programmability: The module has a certain degree of programmability and can be set according to different power system requirements and application scenarios to adapt to diverse working needs.
Monitoring function: It can monitor parameters such as voltage, current and frequency of the power system. When the parameters are abnormal, it can provide an alarm function, which is convenient for users to understand the system operation status in time and carry out fault investigation.
Communication interface: It may be equipped with a communication interface for data exchange and communication with other devices or control systems, facilitating centralized management and remote monitoring of the system.
Working principle
AC-DC conversion
The input alternating current first passes through the EMI filter circuit to suppress electromagnetic interference in the power grid.
The alternating current is converted into pulsating direct current through the rectifier bridge, and then smoothed back into direct current through the filter capacitor.
By adopting switching power supply technology (such as PWM control), direct current is converted into high-frequency pulses. Through transformer isolation and voltage transformation, and then rectified and filtered, a stable direct current output is obtained.
Voltage stabilizing control
The output voltage is compared with the reference voltage through the feedback circuit. The error signal is amplified and then controls the PWM controller to adjust the conduction time of the switch tube, thereby maintaining the stability of the output voltage.
Redundant management
In the redundant configuration, each power module is connected through a current-sharing circuit to achieve load balancing.
When a certain module malfunctions, its output voltage drops, and other modules automatically bear the entire load. At the same time, the output of the faulty module will be isolated to prevent it from affecting other modules.
Application scenarios
Industrial automation control system
Provide stable power supply for control systems such as PLC, DCS, and SCADA to ensure reliable operation of the systems.
In the control systems of gas turbines and steam turbines, power is supplied to the Mark VIe series modules (such as the DS215TCQAG1BBF controller and the DS200 series I/O card).
