4) Inspection of the sliding function of the brake caliper

As shown in Figure 5, check the large sliding resistance of the brake caliper. If it exceeds 100N, check whether there are dust, debris, etc. that hinder the sliding of the brake caliper.

5) Gap adjustment

Push the brake caliper along the guide pin towards the inside, use a suitable tool to separate the overall push plate from the inner brake block, and measure the gap between the push plate and the inner brake block back plate. The value should be 0.7-1.0mm. If the gap is too large or too small, and the self-adjusting mechanism cannot work properly, the following checks need to be carried out:

① Open the rubber cap and use a wrench to counterclockwise rotate the hexagonal head of the manual adjustment shaft to create a gap between the brake pad and the brake disc:

② Place the wrench on the hexagonal head of the manual adjustment shaft and apply 5 brakes (approximately 0.2MPa). If the white adjustment mechanism is working properly, the wrench should be turned clockwise for a short distance (as the number of brakes increases, the turning distance decreases).

After several brake applications, the self-adjusting mechanism will adjust the clearance to the normal value.

Note: If a force of 16N is applied to the wrench and the hex head of the hand adjustable shaft cannot be turned, the brake caliper must be replaced as there may be an internal fault in the brake caliper. When braking, if the wrench does not move or only rotates during the first brake application, or if it rotates back and forth with each brake wrench, it indicates that the white adjustment mechanism has failed, and the brake caliper must be replaced at this time.
