Ornamental Stainless Tube

We offer Stainless Steel Ornamental tubing (also known as Stainless Steel Decorative tube) in 3 different shapes Round, Rectangular, and Square. Stainless Steel Ornamental tubing is used for various purposes the most significant being architectural.

This Ornamental tubing is purely decorative and is not suitable for pipeline applications where any fluids are being transported. Stainless Steel Round tube comes in a standard mirror polish (Satin 180 grit finish is available on request only) whilst Stainless Steel Square and Stainless Steel Rectangular tube is stocked standard in a 180grit Satin finish. All Ornamental tube is in accordance with ASTM A554 Dimensional tolerances in accordance with ASTM A450 and/or ISO 1127 D3T3. The ornamental tubing Standard length is 6 meters. All tubes have the heat number, size and grade stamped on the inside of the tube.

The general rule of thumb for exterior applications within 4kms of the coastline using only grade 316 or grade 444 is suitable. If Stainless Steel is on the coastline we strongly recommend only using a high mirror polish grade 316 (one can also further enhance the polished surface of the tube by Electo-polishing process). Satin finish exposed to the elements on the coastline can tarnish in color due to chloride buildup on the surface. Grade 304 should only be used for exterior applications inland and certain interior applications near the coast. If you are unsure of the correct grade of Stainless Steel to use contact us.

ASTM A554 Welded Ornamental Tube

We produce ASTM A554 welded ornamental tubes in various shapes, containing round tubes, square tubes, rectangular tubes, and oval tubes, A554 specification covers welded Austenitic, Ferritic, and Austenitic-Ferritic duplex stainless steel mechanical tubing intended for use in the ornamental, structural, exhaust, and other applications.

Stainless Steel Ornamental Round Tube Specifications

ASTM A500

This specification covers cold-formed welded and seamless carbon steel round, square, rectangular, or special shape structural tubing for welded, riveted, or bolted construction of bridges and buildings, and for general structural purposes.

ASTM A554

This specification covers seamless, straight-seam welded, and heavily cold-worked welded austenitic stainless steel pipe intended for high-temperature and general corrosive service.

ASTM A813

This specification covers two classes of fit-up and alignment quality straight-seam single- or double-welded austenitic steel pipe intended for high-temperature and general corrosive service. Diameter, Wall, and Ovality Tolerance – No Bead:

Ovality is the difference between the maximum and minimum outside diameters measured at any one cross-section. There is no additional tolerance for Ovality on tubes having a nominal wall thickness of more than 3% of the outside diameter.

An Ovality allowance of twice the outside diameter tolerance, shown in this table, is applied one-half plus and one-half minus to the outside diameter, for tubes having a nominal wall thickness of 3% or less of the specified outside diameter. The average of the maximum and minimum outside diameter readings should fall within the outside diameter tolerances of this table.

Tubing may be specified to outside diameter and wall.

Wall tolerance is +/- 10% of the specified wall thickness.

Square ornamental tubing in a number of standard sizes and grades, inducing in 304, 304L, and 316/316L. Standard finishes include mill finish and 180 Grit (#4 polish) with the availability of 240 Grit, 320 Grit, and a #8 mirror finish. Larger square ornamental tubing can be supplied to meet the requirements of larger stainless fabrications thru 24″ square with wall thicknesses in excess of ?”. 30’ sections can be supplied without a girth weld. Nearly any grade of stainless, duplex, or nickel alloys can be produced into square structural sections.
