Compared with conventional AlSi10Mg, AlSi7Mg has better welding performance, and can be anodized and coated. Anodizing refers to a process in which a dense oxide film is formed on the surface of aluminum alloy through electrolytic oxidation (the oxide film can show different colors through process treatment). This oxide film has protective, decorative and other functions. Therefore, such AlSi7Mg has high corrosion resistance and can be used in a wide temperature range.
AlSi7Mg will be an ideal choice for manufacturing metal structural parts, whether in commercial and military aviation fields or in missile applications, and will even further expand its application in automobile wheel hubs and chassis components in the future.AlSi7Mg can even show slightly higher mechanical properties than AlSi10Mg, especially the yield strength, but the heat treatment system needs to be adjusted.
