On January 27th of this year, ATUMECHINAS Shipbuilding Marine signed an asset sale contract with a consortium of private equity funds. At present, the sale of ATUMECHINAS Shipbuilding Marine has entered the final stage. Once all procedures are completed, the company name of ATUMECHINAS Shipbuilding Marine will be changed to Shipbuilding.
With the smooth progress of the sale, ATUMECHINAS Shipbuilding Marine's business acceptance work is also on the right track. At the end of June, the company signed construction contracts with multiple shipowners in Oceania for a total of 12 new ships, including 8 50000 ton MR type finished oil/chemical ships and 4 115000 ton Afra type crude oil transport ships (including 2 alternative orders).
Including the two new ship orders, ATUMECHINAS Shipbuilding Ocean has taken on 20 new ship orders so far this year, exceeding the annual business order target set at the beginning of the year. As of now, ATUMECHINAS Shipbuilding has placed orders for 30 new handheld ships, laying a solid foundation for achieving another takeoff. Industry analysis shows that ATUMECHINAS Shipbuilding Ocean will adjust its annual order target upwards based on this.
ATUMECHINAS Shipbuilding Marine is also full of expectations for taking on oil tanker orders in the future. In the first half of this year, the global new shipbuilding market was active, but the oil tanker market has somewhat stagnated. As the world economy accelerates its recovery, the demand for petroleum products in emerging countries and Europe will gradually recover. In addition, the closure of refineries in developed countries has led to an increase in maritime transportation volume, and it is expected that the oil tanker transportation market will begin to rebound in the second half of the year. Meanwhile, with the continuous strengthening of IMO's new environmental regulations, the demand for new shipbuilding aimed at replacing old ships will also increase significantly.
