Melamine chipboard is anengineered wood product which contains melamine, a chemical compound which hasa number of uses. Chipboard, also known as particleboard, is made from avariety of scrap wood materials such as sawdust. These materials are gluedtogether with melamine resin, a mixture of melamine and formaldehyde whichhelps the chipboard hold its shape. The resulting product is very dense andextremely strong, and can in fact be superior to actual wood in someapplications such as flooring, where high strength is desired. It is also usedin products like furniture, to increase sturdiness and lower costs.
