AgSnO2 is a nontoxic material, compared to AgCdO, and has very good and stable welding resistance and arc erosion resistance.

It has better erosion resistance than AgCdO in the current range of 500 ~ 3000 A, and shows better welding resistance than AgCdO and AgNi under lamp load and capacitive load.

While under AC resistive load, the contact resistance of AgSnO2 is a little higher than that of AgCdO, but it shows low and stable resistance at DC lamp / motor loads (such as automobile relays).

Under DC condition, AgSnO2 has less material transfer compared to AgCdO.

A contact opens and closes

(makes and breaks) to engage or interrupt an electrical circuit. They are usually used for switches,

relays, contactors and motor starters etc.

An electrical contact is defined as the interface between the current-carrying members of electrical/

electronic devices that assure the continuity of electric circuit, and the unit containing the

interface. The current-carrying members in contact, often made of solids, are called contact

members or contact parts. The contact members connected to the positive and negative circuit

clamps are called the anode and cathode, respectively.
