 Brief introduction of belt drying process technique

For drying pigment, the most widely used dryer in China is tray dryer because it is cheaper, easy to operate, flexible application etc. However, tray dryer has many advantages: require high labor intensity, batch type operation, low drying capacity and long drying time, bad operation condition and environmental pollution etc. After many years of research and improvement, belt drying process is designed by our drying engineers to dry this specific material which has high moisture content and viscosity, fine particle size and low bulk density. This design has the following advantages:

 Continuous production: The high moisture content pigment can be directly dried when it is conveyed through the drying chamber.

 Enhanced drying capacity: the combined extruder can make the filter cake into granules and evenly feed the granules onto the drying belt which will enhance the air flow.

Energy saving: part of exhaust gas will be returned to the drying chamber to form hot air circulation. This design will considerably save the cost in energy.

Environmental friendly: the final exhaust gas will be filter by scrubbers which make sure the exhaust gas reach the emission standards. 

Uniform air flow and stable drying temperature: special designed hot air distributor can evenly distribute the hot air into the drying chamber from two sides of the drying belt.  Uniform drying effect: This drying process line is connected by three belt dryers. When the material is conveyed to the end of one belt dryer, it will drop onto the next drying belt and turn over to get uniform drying effect.

 Operation principle

After being filtered by plate and frame filter press, the filter cake will be fed into the extruder fixed at one end of the belt dryer; the extruder will agitate the filter cake, extrude the cake into strips and evenly spread the strips onto the drying belt. Then the drying belt made by SUS304 mesh will convey the strips through the drying chamber. The hot air will be evenly distributed into the chamber and form many circulation units which will penetrate the drying belt to evaporate the water from the material. This belt dry process line is connected by three belt dryers. Each belt dryer has five circulation units of which the drying temperature can be controlled separately.
