Industrial Rotary Smelting Furnace South Africa

Copper scrap is designed to be sent to rotary reverberatory furnace by forklift. We choose a rotary reverberatory furnace for fire –refining, and the copper scrap (<200mm×200mm×400mm) will be produced to copper anode (99.5%). The crane will transfer copper liquid in ladle and then dump it into casting mould. The copper anode will be casting into anode plates in moulds semi-automatically. Rotary Reverberatory Furnace adopts gas pre mixing combustion system, which has high efficiency, low off-gas amount, low dust content in off-gas, low flux consumption. We design a furnace with 5 tons capacity (Φ2194×2700mm), and 2 furnaces per day. 

Please refer the following operation process description. 

1) Furnace Heating: Before feeding, the furnace should be heating to 1100°C. The rotary furnace fuel is natural gas, or fuel oil. Compressed air and natural gas will be injected into furnace through the side tube from premixing pipelines. And the burning system is also on the furnace side.

2) Feeding Material: The material inlet is on one end of the furnace. The feeding material, with certain size, will be fed into furnace by feeder or forklift. As the furnace inside temperature is already 1100°C, so the blister copper will be molten when feeding. When there is certain amount of copper liquid, we will also feed slag former. After all the blister copper become copper liquid, we will sample the copper liquid and analyze the Cu content. 

3) Oxidation: The impurities will be oxide by oxygen through side tube. And oxide slag will be removed by several times through side tap-hole which is opposite of the tubes. And the oxidation temperature is about 1200°C.

4) Reduction: when oxide period is over, compressed air will be stop, and N2 will be injected to flush the tube, and then inject reduction air. The reduction period is about 0.5-1h. During reduction, will sample copper liquid to analyze the Cu content to see if it is qualified or not.

Off-gas treatment system: The off-gas (>1000°C) from furnace end, please refer the right side drawing for off-gas duct location. The offgas will be through mist spray cooler (250~300°C), plate heat exchanger (<150°C), dust collector, exhaust fan, and stack. The clean off-gas will go to atmosphere through stack with dust 50mg/Nm3.
