Elettaria Cardamomum is a pungent aromatic herbaceous perennial plant, growing to about 2–4 m (6 ft 7 in–13 ft 1 in) in height. The leaves are alternate in two ranks, linear-lanceolate, 40–60 cm (16–24 in) long. Cardamom is grown in South Indian states. It is the dried fruit of an herbaceous perennial plant. Cardamom, an aromatic spice is a member of the ginger family Elettaria cardamomum maton. This small pungent seed is used worldwide for flavouring variety of items including coffee, curries and desserts.

Culinary Uses of Green Cardamom

1. Cardamom is a member of the ginger family known for its unique flavor and aroma, which can be described as smoky, floral, citrus and sweet all at the same time.
2. Green cardamom, is combined with condensed milk and sugar to make sweets collectively referred to as mithai.
3. Green cardamom is also used to flavour coffee and teas, most notably Masala Tea.
4. The premium variety of Green Cardamom is commonly used to flavour meats, poultry, seafood, vegetable dishes, soups and sauces.
