 Low-e Insulated  glass panels (Double /Triple Insulated Glazed Glass Panels)are hermetically sealed combinations of two or more panes of glass separate by a dry airspace. The air trapped between the two pieces of glass acts as an insulator slowing the rate at which heat and cold can pass through the unit. The more air sandwiched between the glass,the better insulator effect you have.

     Triple glazing is obtained by the same process as double glazing, but three glass sheets are used, separated by two aluminum rods.

     As with double glazing, in the second space between the glass sheets, a rare gas such as Argon can be introduced. This gas is very important because it helps improve the U-value.

The most common thickness of a triple glazing is 32 mm and they are mounted mainly on profiles with constructive depth of 70 mm, but on the new Rehau GENEO it is possible to mount 44 mm thick glazing.

    Coming out to support you, we'll continue to present various combinations of glass and their properties. From the presented figures we can say that triple glazing is efficient only when used on certain profiles (GENEO) or using at least two panes of Low-e or solar control type of glass.

Remember that there are double glazings with better thermal properties than some triple glazings. Because the distance between the glass panels drops (from 16 mm to 10 mm) the properties of thermal insulation of the glazing are affected, so please consult us before making a decision to ensure that you get the best configuration of glass.

Common types of triple glazing

Clear + Clear + Low-e

Clear + Clear + Low-e with argon gas, with a package thickness of 32 mm, is the ideal choice when seeking a low heat loss from inside to outside but also a superior sound insulation.

Assembly in the joinery is made like in the shown image, with the "soft" layer on face 5, with the low-e glass to the interior. For 32 mm, with sheets of 4 mm thick, there will be 10mm spacer rods.

Triple glazing: Low-e + Clear + Clear

Triple glass with solar control retains the qualities of low-e glass type, but has a higher degree of protection against sunlight from outside to inside. Is the right choice when you wish to eliminate greenhouse effect caused by solar energy. It also offers an additional noise protection. This can reduce conditioning costs in summer.

Mounting the glass package in the joinery is made according to the figure, with the magnetron layer on face 2, so the sheet of protective glass is on the outside.

The following table shows the combinations of glass properties depending on thickness, space between the glass panels and gas used.

The amount of light reflection is very important but also the U-value.

Triple glazing: Clear + Clear + Clear

Clear + Clear + Clear glazing is used as a structure when seeking an additional noise protection. For example, inside or in a house undemanding in terms of significant energy losses.

Assembly in the joinery is standard.

Production of this type of insulating glass follows the same process as for other types of quality float glass, the difference being given by the price (smaller) but also by the package properties.

Most effective triple glazings

Decreasing the distance between the glass panels in order to obtain a triple glazing seriously affects the U-value. This inconvenience can be "adjusted" by using at least two sheets of glass with insulating properties.
