Consistent Product, Narrow Specs – These two attributes of the resin are the key to obtaining excellent cell structure in the foams. Hexion offers phenolic resins designed to be used in specialized floral foam applications. We produce consistent products within narrow specification ranges. These resins are engineered to give open-cell foam structures, with the addition of acid catalyst. The foam height and exotherm rates can be effectively controlled by resin characteristics.

These specialized resoles are water based, as well as solvent based, and can be used with a wide variety of blowing agents and surfactant packages. Hexion provides a high level of technical service and can custom produce these resins to effectively fit customers' processing guidelines and equipment. 

Resins such as SC-2612 can be used for hydrophonic foams for agricultural use and impression foam for medical applications.
