UK ROHS Certification Regulation:
In the UK and Northern Ireland, many types of electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) are regulated to control the content of certain hazardous substances and chemicals contained in them in order to protect the health of humans and animals.
Manufacturers or importers who place EEE on the UK market and distributors (including retailers) share compliance responsibilities.
Product Requirements
Electronic and electronic equipment (EEE) product requirements within the UK:
1· Have technical documentation to prove its compliance;
Establish reliable technical files for EU RoHS and eco-design, and the evaluation rules for RoHS and codes are the same as those in the EU.
You need to perform due diligence, follow recognized standards, and establish reliable technical files with proof of compliance. Your product must remain compliant, taking into account changes in regulations and modifications in design, supply chain, etc.
Your technical files are saved 10 years after the last product unit is placed on the UK market.
2·Have a declaration of conformity;
Once the product is considered fully compliant, you can draft a UKCA Declaration of Conformity (DoC).
Your UKCA DoC must include all applicable requirements, such as UK RoHS. Wuxiang recommends that you provide RoHS exemption status on the UKCA DoC.
Currently, these standards are the same as those in the EU, with the prefix "BS" added for British Standards Institution approval. Therefore, the IEC 63000 standard for RoHS assessment - Technical documentation for evaluating electrical and electronic products under the restriction of hazardous substances - becomes BS EN IEC 63000:2018 in the UK.
3. Marked with required information;
Marked with information such as British and other information as required.
4. Display appropriate conformity marks for GB and/or NI markets.
Marking rules remain essentially the same as CE marking rules. As with CE marking, the minimum size is 5mm high. The UKCA mark must generally be affixed to a visible and permanent surface of the product itself. However, the UKCA label can be provided on accompanying documents until January 1, 2023.
Scope of coverage
The UK and Northern Ireland regulations cover all EEE, cables and spare parts, but exemptions include:
· Some equipment for military use or specifically designed to be sent into space;
· Equipment not covered by the regulations (indispensable products);
· Large stationary industrial tools and large fixed installations;
· Photovoltaic (solar) panels permanently used at a specific location;
· Transport vehicles (except some two-wheeled electric vehicles);
· Non-road mobile machinery for professional use;
· Business-to-business products specifically for research and development;
· Pipe organs;
· Active implantable medical devices;
· Phthalates in medical devices and monitoring instruments until July 2021.
Scope of obligations
In the UK and Northern Ireland, manufacturers, importers and distributors (including retailers) (called economic operators) are responsible for the compliance of the EEE they make available on the market.
Within 10 years of placing the EEE on the market, economic operators in Great Britain and Northern Ireland must be able to identify who supplied the EEE
