Product Description
Zn-5%Aluminum-Mischmetal alloy coated steel wire is a special steel wire product formed by hot-dipping carbon steel with Zn-5%Al-MM coat. It has excellent anti-corrosion, good weather resistance and strong mechanical properties. It has been widely used in agriculture, electricity, communications and other industries. Its excellent anti-corrosion and mechanical properties make it an ideal substitute for traditional galvanized steel wire. Its production process adopts hot-dipping technology. Mischmetal elements and aluminum can form a dense and stable oxide protective film on surface of Zn-5%Aluminum-Mischmetal alloy coated steel wire. This can prevent external oxygen, moisture and other corrosive substances from directly contacting steel wire,thereby greatly improving corrosion resistance of Zn-5%Aluminum-Mischmetal alloy coated steel wire and extending its service life in harsh environments. ASTM B 802, ASTM B 803 and ASTM B 958 are three important standards formulated by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), which respectively put forward clear technical requirements and test methods for Zn-5%Aluminum-Mischmetal alloy coated steel wire in different application scenarios.
Analysis of technical differences between ASTM B 802, ASTM B 803 and ASTM B 958
1. ASTM B 802: Applicable to Zn-5%Aluminum-Mischmetal alloy coated steel wire (Aluzinc steel wire) for Aluminum conductors steel reinforced (ACSR), focusing on coating adhesion and uniformity.Wrap Test stipulate test specimens shall not fracture when Zn-5Al-MM alloy-coated wire is wrapped at a rate not exceeding 15 turns/min in a close helix of at least eight turns around a cylindrical mandrel with a diameter equal to two times the specified diameter of the wire under test. The zinc coating weight is divided into grade A and grade C, and each diameter has only one strength and 1% stress requirement.
2. ASTM B 803: For high strength Zn-5%Aluminum-Mischmetal alloy coated steel wire (Aluzinc steel wire) used in overhead electrical conductors. Wrap Test stipulate test specimens shall not fracture when Zn-5Al-MM alloy-coated wire is wrapped at a rate not exceeding 15 turns/min in a close helix of at least eight turns around a cylindrical mandrel with a diameter equal to three times the specified diameter of the wire under test. The zinc coating weight is grade A, and each diameter has only one strength and 1% stress requirement.
3. ASTM B 958: For extra high-strength Zn-5%Aluminum-Mischmetal alloy coated steel wire (Aluzinc steel wire) for use in overhead electrical conductors. The tensile strength is graded to above 1725MPa. Wrap Test stipulate test specimens shall not fracture when Zn-5Al-MM alloy-coated wire is wrapped at a rate not exceeding 15 turns/min in a close helix of at least eight turns around a cylindrical mandrel with a diameter equal to four times the specified diameter of the wire under test. The zinc coating weight is grade A, and there are only 2 strengths and 2% stress requirements for each diameter.
The main feature of Zn-5%Aluminum-Mischmetal alloy coated steel wire is that the ratio of aluminum and zinc in its surface coating is scientifically designed to play a dual protective role. The presence of aluminum can effectively block oxidation and delay corrosion process, while zinc can form a protective oxide film at damaged part to further enhance protection ability. At the same time, this type of Zn-5%Al-MM steel wire also has high temperature resistance and good processability, which can meet use requirements in different environments.
