Overhead line helical fittings are a kind of engineering fittings used for connecting overhead power conductors, power overhead optical cable dead ends, suspensions, joints, etc. It is mainly used to protect conductors from vibration, electrical corrosion, arc burns and other losses, and repair problem of broken wire strands. Preformed helical fitting first appeared in the United States in the 1940s and 1950s. The original product was a spiral protective wire used to protect stress concentration position of bare conductors and position of electrical corrosion and arc burns. After years of development, Preformed helical fittings have been widely used in power transmission and distribution, optical fiber communication and other projects.

Galvanized steel wire is a metal that has been treated with a layer of hot-dipped zinc and is commonly used in various construction and industrial applications. During the installation process, use of special preformed tools can ensure uniform winding force. Over-tightening will cause zinc coating to break and lose its protective effect.
