Overview of the national standard GB 31241-2022 for lithium batteries:

On December 29, 2022, the State Administration for Market Regulation (National Standardization Administration) issued GB 31241-2022 "Safety Technical Specifications for Lithium-ion Batteries and Battery Packs for Portable Electronic Products".

GB 31241-2022 is a revision of GB 31241-2014, and the mandatory implementation date is January 1, 2024, and GB 31241-2014 is invalid.

GB 31241-2022 is a national mandatory standard for the electronic products industry, used for China Compulsory Certification (China Compulsory Certification), referred to as CCC certification.

CCC certification is a product evaluation system implemented by the Chinese government in accordance with laws and regulations to protect the personal health and safety of consumers, protect the environment, and protect national security. It requires that products must comply with national standards and relevant technical specifications before they can be produced, imported or sold.
Scope of application of the national standard GB 31241-2022 for lithium batteries:

a) Portable office products: laptops, tablets, etc.;

b) Mobile communication products: mobile phones, cordless phones, walkie-talkies, etc.;

c) Portable audio/video products: portable TVs, portable audio/video players, cameras, camcorders, voice recorders, Bluetooth headsets, portable speakers, etc.;

Other portable products: electronic navigators, digital photo frames, game consoles, e-books, mobile power supplies, portable energy storage power supplies, portable projectors, wearable devices, etc.

Test items:

1. Battery electrical safety test: external short circuit at room temperature, external short circuit at high temperature, overcharge, forced discharge;

2. Battery environmental safety test: low voltage, temperature cycle, vibration, acceleration shock, drop, extrusion, heavy object impact, thermal abuse, combustion injection;

3. Battery pack environmental safety test: low pressure, temperature cycle, vibration, acceleration shock, drop, stress relief, high temperature use, washing, flame retardant requirements;

4. Battery pack electrical safety test: overvoltage charging, overcurrent charging, undervoltage discharge, overload, external short circuit, reverse charging, electrostatic discharge;

5. Battery pack protection circuit safety requirements: overvoltage charging protection, overcurrent charging protection, undervoltage discharge protection, overload protection, short circuit protection, high voltage resistance;

6. System protection circuit safety requirements: charging voltage control, charging current control, discharge voltage control, discharge current control, charging and discharging temperature control.

Test samples: 24 batteries, 37 battery packs
