Property:

It is a colourless rhombohedral crystal with relative density of 2.66 and melting point of 1,124 °C. It is soluble in water, ethanol and glycerol. Soluble in water, ethanol and glycerol. Insoluble in acetone. Easily absorb moisture.

Application:

It is used in pharmaceutical industry and printing and dyeing industry.

Because it absorbs water faster and is a neutral compound, it does not have chemical reaction to all kinds of organics, so it is a commonly used desiccant. Especially those organic materials that can not be dried with anhydrous calcium chloride are often used to dry it.

Used as feed, is the composition of livestock bones and teeth, for the normal development of bone required, but also a variety of enzyme activator, in sugar and protein metabolism plays an important role. It can also be used as fertiliser or compound fertiliser, and is also the raw material for the production of magnesium oxide.
