Porous titanium sheets are highly desirable for use as the porous transport layer (PTL) in polymer electrolyte membrane (PEM) water electrolyzers. However, the passivation of titanium leads to an increase in surface contact resistance, thereby negatively affecting the performance of the electrolyzer.
