BOD meter brief introduction:

Pour the water sample or pretreated water sample into the culture flask, and put carbon dioxide absorbent (NaOH) in the absorption cup at the mouth of the bottle, then seal the culture flask and place it in the biochemical incubator. After five days of cultivation at a constant temperature of ±1°C, the water sample in the bottle undergoes a biological oxidation reaction at a certain stirring speed. The organic matter is converted into nitrogen, carbon and sulfur oxides, and carbon dioxide gas is produced, which is absorbed by sodium hydroxide. The oxygen in the upper space of the culture bottle continuously supplies the oxygen demand of the microorganisms in the water sample, and a pressure difference is generated in the culture bottle. By detecting the height of mercury in the glass tube, the BOD value of the water sample during the specified measurement period can be calculated.
