Low e is short for "Low emissivity".

Low e energy saving double glazing consists of one pane of low-e glass and the other one clear glass separated by an aluminum spacer and sealed together with butyl and then structural sealant at the edge. The insulating airspace is filled with dry air or a noble gas, such as argon or krypton inside to isolate the heat exchange and reduce noise levels. The aluminum spacer is filled with silica desiccant pellets to ensure removal of any moisture in the airspace. 

A glass window or facade with a low e coating will greatly reduce the amount of heat transfer. Thus making your house or office warmer in the winter and cooler in the hot summer.

Due to its high performance of energy saving and decorating effect, Low e energy saving double glazing is widely used as facade, curtain wall and windows, even for doors too.

Nowadays, low e glass can be divided into three kinds of low e glass: 

Single low e: with U value<2.0W/m2·K

Double low e: with U value< 1.6W/m2·K

Triple low e: with U value< 1.3W/m2·K

lower U value means more energy saving.

Also Argon gas can be used to inject the space of low e double glazing to acheive evern lower U value and enhance longer lifespan.
