Self cleaning water filters / automatic filter usually use screen as the filter element. The filters utilize system pressure to clean the screen. The filter screen stains and traps the particles and impurities from the water source. This buildup causes differential pressure across the inlet and outlet, which then activates the auto backwash procedure. The backflush stream wash the buildup out without pause or stop the main filtration stream.
The filter screen is made of sintered wire mesh with perforated metal. The perforated metal support the main filter media mesh and thus provides higher strength against pressure and backwash procedure.
