Selection of Bond

The choice of bond is mainly based on its own performance, the super hard abrasive tool bond mainly includes: resin bond, ceramic bond and metal bond.

1. Resin bond (B) :The bond itself has good elasticity and polishing effect, and the bond is easy to burn out under high temperature. Resin abrasive tool self-sharpening performance is good, not easy to plug.

After finishing, it is rarely dressed again, with high grinding efficiency, low grinding roughness and low grinding temperature. Due to its superior performance, resin bonded abrasive tools are widely used in super hard abrasive tools. Resin diamond grinding is used for semi-fine grinding of cemented carbide cutting tools, steel bonded cemented carbide working pieces and some non-metallic materials. Resin cubic boron nitride abrasives are mainly used for cutting edge grinding of high speed abrasives, tool steel, mold steel, stainless steel, heat resistant alloy.

2.Ceramic bond (V) :Ceramic bond has strength, good heat resistance, sharp cutting, high grinding efficiency.

The cutting process is not easy to heat and plug, small thermal expansion, easy to control the machining accuracy, and easy to repair. Ceramic binder abrasive tools are generally used for rough grinding, semi-fine grinding, shape grinding with large contact area, grinding of sintered body of super hard abrasive, etc.

3. Metal bond (M): Metal bond is divided into bronze bond and electroplating bond. Bronze bond is high strength, good wear resistance, long service life, good shape retention and can bear larger load. But its self-sharpness is poor, easy to block heat, repair difficult. Bronze bond diamond abrasive tools are mainly used for rough and fine grinding and cutting of non-metallic materials such as glass, ceramics, stone, concrete, semiconductor materials and superhard materials, and a small amount for rough grinding and forming grinding of hard alloys and honing of various materials. CBN abrasives can be used for forming grinding of metal materials and various alloy steels

Electroplated bond has higher strength. The abrasive layer of the grinding tool is thin, the abrasive grain density is high, the surface of the grinding wheel cutting is sharp, high grinding efficiency, good economy, no need to repair, but the life of the abrasive is short. The electroplated bond is mainly used to make the shape of the complex shape of the forming grinding tools and grinding head.
