 Rock gas refers to a natural gas that as adsorption state exists in the gas reservoir pore and fracture. In the conventional gas reservoir, the content of adsorption gas is very low, generally less than 20%; However, on the contrary,  the adsorption gas content is higher. In the coalbed methane reservoir, it is more than 85%, and in the shale gas reservoir it is from 20% to 85%.Adsorption gas directly influences on the quality of aggregation in the natural gas  and the corresponding techniques in development process, especially for the unconventional gas reservoir such as gas layer, shale gas because the volume of adsorption gas is the key factor for reservoir evaluation, reserve estimation, development and design. Therefore, this kind of testing has been widely used in the process of natural gas exploration and development, and is also an important part of development in the natural gas.  In addition, it has a great application value in the metal mining and gas explosion, environment protection and monitoring, soil science research, chemical industry and so on. 

One of the most common ways to measure content of rock gas is thermal desorption analysis, which can analyze the content of rock gas by analysis of the content and composition of gas parsed out from sample.

Theory

  First remove the sampling to rock in a sampling tank seal, and then to the ground, and then in a certain environment temperature, finally the quantity and composition of thermal analytical calculated through the detector.

Typically, a sampling many times, in multiple sample jar, sample tank must have cut-off valve has pneumatic connection interface.

 Thermal desorption steps are two, the first step is the overall rock thermal desorption, the second step is to further after smashing sample parsing.
