weathering steel is a kind of low alloy steel between carbon steel and stainless steel. Because the additaion of Cu, Ni, Cr and other alloy chemical elements, weathering steel has excelent character of anti-corrosion. While the additaional number is small, so the price of weathering steel is much cheaper than stainless steel.
Why do pre-rust treatment
It takes long time to develop the stable rusty layer in nature. This can greatly affect the the using of the weathering steel, especially the dropping of rust liquid and the flying of floatting rust at the beginning of bare using.
