What does a stainless steel casing and wedge wire screen means to your well?
It is necessary to use well casing and screen to keep loose sand and gravel from collapsing into the borehole. The screen can support the borehole walls while allowing water to enter the well, casing unslotted is placed above the screen to keep the rest of the borehole open and serve as a housing for pumping equipment. For every different slot opening a new tooling is necessary. So continuous cylinders are only interesting for large quantities. For lower quantities a cylinder is more cost effective.
