Characteristics of 300 Series SS:

300 series stainless steel having 18%chromium and 8% nickel

“18-8” to characterize fitting made of 302,302HQ, 303 304,305, 384, XM7 the close chemical compositions and corrosion resistance.

The slight different chemical composition does make grades more resistant than others do against particular chemicals or atmospheres.

It?Has superior corrosion resistance to 400 series stainless.

It is?Nonmagnetic?and hardenable only by cold working.

304 Stainless Steel?an austenitic steel possessing a minimum of 18%chromium and 8%nikel,combined with a maximum of 0.08% carbon.

It Cannot be hardened by heat treatment

Must be cold worked to obtain higher tensile strengths.

The 18% minimum chromium content provides corrosion and oxidation resistance.
