Product Introduction

Huperzia serrata has been used in Chinese folk medicine under the name Qian Ceng Ta (Chien Tseng Ta), for the treatment of bruises, strains, swelling, and fevers. It also has been used for schizophrenia. Huperzine A is a plant alkaloid derived from the Huperzia serrata. Huperzine A is an Acetylcholinesterase inhibitor similar to other compounds donepezil, rivastigmine, and galantamine. It is the treatment of senile dementia specific drug that can improve memory. Huperzine A derivatives are being developed for pharmaceutical application, and now are sold as a dietary supplement for memory support. Because of possible activities in the brain, Huperzine A also is being considered for potential use in preventing nerve gas poisoning.
