Do we really need Flame Resistant clothing (we haven't had an accident in many years? 

     Flame resistant clothing saves lives because of its significantly productions in burning injury, giving the wearer time to escape, increasing survival chances. Providing FR clothing demonstrates management's commitment to safety and employee well-being. It not only improves morale but also increases safety either. 

What do all these standards and test methods mean?

     Performance standards and test methods allow users to objectively evaluate materials, and define minimum performance criteria for fabrics or garments. Using fire resistant products that meet performance standard requirements helps ensure people are wearing acceptable fire resistant garments.

Isn't fire resistant garment too expensive?

     Fire resistant garment is much higher than standard worker uniform, but it has significantly longer wear life, decreasing replacement costs over time. What’s more, the cost of one serious burn injury can often pay for an entire fire resistant clothing program.

How often does fire resistant garment have to be replaced?

     The life time of fire resistant garment is almostly dependent on the type of fabric used and the garment construction’s quality. Some types of garments can last more than 5 years, while other types may last 9 to 18 months. Garments should be replaced when they are beyond repair, contaminated, or aesthetically unacceptable.

When should fire resistant garment to be retired?

     Garments should be retired while they have holes or tears on thier surfaces that cannot be repaired, or while the fabric has thinned or become "thread bare". In addition, when garments contaminated with flammable substances should be removed from service if the garments cannot be adequately decontaminated.

 Care & Maintenance

1.CARE TIPS:

 *Wash new flame-resistant garments prior to wearing.

 *Wash flame-resistant garments separately from standard clothing.

*Do not use chlorine bleach.

*Make sure FR garments are clean and in proper repair before each wearing.

 *Remove oils and flammable contaminants from FR garments. Flammable contaminants can be a fuel source that adds to burn injury.

2.PROPER WEARING

    Fire resistant garments can provide the wearer protection if following garment manufacturers' recommendations for appropriate use.

    *Wearing garments properly – collars closed, sleeves and cuffs down and secured, shirt tails tucked, closures secured, and other manufacturer recommendated productions.

*Wearing looser-fitting garments can provide adequate mobility.

 *Do not wear non-fire resistant clothings over the fire resistant garments.

*Washing garments carefully after each wearing in order to get rid of all contaminants.

    *Do not put on the fire resistant garments in proximity of flammable gasses, vapors, dusts or in other potentially explosive environments.

*Using proper grounding procedures in potentially explosive atmospheres

*Wear fire resistant garments with the appropriate arc rating as dictated by an electric arc hazard analysis. Consult employer if unsure.
