Geocells are three-dimensional, honeycomb like structures manufactured from high density polyethlene. The 3D structure confines and stabilizes infill material, giving an apparent cohesion to cohesionless soils. The early applications of geocells consisted primarily of stabilized, expedient sand roads for military vehicles.
