Chinese Wuhan  Singular Se Gong

 The Se Gong is one of the most famous gongs in China and has a very long history of over 300 years. It is very pure and singular in tone, which is different with Hand Gong and Tiger-sound Gong. The name "Se Gong" came from folks, because the Se Gong was used as percussion instrument in "Se Fire" performance, national theater group and folk art group.

The sound Se Gong gives is bell like with an extremely focused resonant tone. Because of the focused nature of this kind of gong, even when struck hard, there is minimal splash and wash.

The Se Gong, one of our favorites, is a small gong that is used in the Opera, as well as many folk performances, and even sometimes Lion Dancing.

It has a musicality and bounce that other small gongs don't usually have. And it works well in combination with other percussion instruments. In fact, it often accompanies by a Chinese Chau Cymbal. We like to say that the Se Gong is like the Blood Type O of gongs as a universal donor, it can go in almost any performance.
