Brif introduction of cylindrical roller bearing 

Cylindrical roller bearings are commonly separable and easy to mount and dismount. They can

be divided into single row, double row and muti-row cylindrical roller bearings. The widely

used bearings are cylindrical roller bearings with cage. There are single or double row

bearings with a full complement of roller and other bearing arrangements. Cylindrical roller

bearings have high radial load carrying capacity and are also suitable for high speeds.

1. The single row caged cylindrical roller bearings mainly have the N, NJ, NU, NUP designs.
2. The rollers in single row cylindrical roller bearings are always guided between the integral “open” flanges on one of rings.
3. The NJ design cylindrical roller bearings have two integral flanges on the inner ring and no flanges on the outer ring.
4. Cylindrical roller bearings with cage have high radial load carrying capacity ,operating at high speed. Full compliment cylindrical roller bearings can accommodate even higher radial loads, but at low and moderate speed.
   

The roller of the cylindrical roller bearing is in line contact with the raceway, so the bearing can bear heavier radial load. Applications are found in situations characterizes by heavy load and shock load, and also by high-speed rotation. These bearings are separable bearings, and convenient to be mounted and dismounted. They are designed as types of single, double and multiple rows among which the single row cylindrical roller bearings are most applicable. Normally these bearings can accommodate radial load only, none but single row bearings with ribs both on inner and outer rings can carry lighter constant axial load.

Cylindrical roller bearing Basic Design:

       Cylindrical roller bearing is the combination of 2 machined and polished grooved raceways (inner &outer rings), guilding a number of appropriate cylindrical rollers as the rolling elements, with a cage or full complement. This type of bearing is designed to carry heavy radial loads at high speed.

N design The inner ring has two integral flanges and the outer ring is without flanges. Axial displacement of the shaft with respect to the housing can be accommodated in both directions within the bearing itself. The bearings are therefore used as non-locating bearings.

NU designThe outer ring of bearings of the NU design has two integral flanges and the inner ring is without flanges. Axial displacement of the shaft with respect to the housing can be accommodated in both directions within the bearing itself.

NJ designThe outer ring has two integral flanges and the inner ring one integral flange. The bearings are therefore suitable for the axial location of a shaft in one direction.

NF design The outer ring has one integral flange and the inner ring two integral flanges.

NP design The outer ring has one integral flange and one non-integral flange in the form of a loose flange ring and the inner ring two integral flanges.

NUP designThe outer ring has two integral flanges and the inner ring one integral flange and one non-integral flange in the form of a loose flange ring. The bearings can be used as locating bearings, i.e. they can provide axial location for a shaft in both directions.

RN design No outer ring and the inner ring two integral flanges.

RNU design The outer ring has two integral flanges and no inner ring.
