How to grow:
To be sowed directly about 3 inches apart and one-half inch deep in the soil. The seeds may germinate in about two weeks, but may take up to three to five weeks.
Gibberellic acid can be used to speed up germination in some seasons.
Seedlings usually begin flowering 9 - 12 months after they germinate. It can take up to 2 years before you are able to pick and enjoy the first fruit.
Papaya need a light, well-drained soil. The soil needs to be moist in hot weather and dry in cold weather. A balance needs to be reached to provide enough water to the large papaya leaves but not too much as the root will rot. In winter , it is best to keep the plant as dry as possible, providing only minimum water.
