Peanut Details

                                                      Peanut, also known as groundnut and goober (Arachis hypogaea) is a legume crop grown mainly for its edible seeds. It is widely grown in the tropics and subtropics, being important to both smallholder and large commercial producers. It is classified as both a grain legume, and, because of its high oil content, an oil crop. 

                                                      Peanuts are similar in taste and nutritional profile to tree nuts such as walnuts and almonds, and are often served in similar ways in Western cuisines. The botanical definition of a "nut" is a fruit whose ovary wall becomes very hard at maturity. Using this criterion, the peanut is not a nut, but rather a legume. However, for culinary purposes and in common English language usage, peanuts are usually referred to as nuts.

                                                    India is one of the largest producer of groundnuts in the world. Indian ground nuts are available in different varieties: Bolds or Runners, Javas or Spanish have a rich nutty flavor, sweet taste, crunchy texture and a relatively longer shelf life. Peanuts from India are better known as HPS Groundnut Kernels.


                                              Groundnut is a very useful seed used in many International cuisines because of its unique flavor. It is enjoyed raw, roasted or even boiled. Groundnut is used to manufacture oil, confectioneries and peanut butter. Types of Groundnut we offer within India or for seeds purpose are G-2, G-5, G-7, G-20, T-5, T-35 and Gungharu (Small).


                                            

                                             The peanut was probably first domesticated and cultivated in the valleys of Paraguay. It is an annual herbaceous plant growing 30 to 50 cm tall. The leaves are opposite, pinnate with four leaflets; each leaflet is 1 to 7 cm long and 1 to 3 cm across. Botanical Name of Peanut is Arachis Hypogaea famous by its Indian name Mongphali. The groundnut belongs to the pea and bean family and is a leguma but is considered as nut because of its high nutrition value.The groundnut is the native of South America, where it has been cultivated for several countries. Peanut is the major oilseed of India. Peanuts Production is highly weak to rainfall deviations and display huge fluctuation between years.
