Sequence
1. Establish straight line access
2. Explore canal with #10 followed by #15
3. Flare coronal with s1(followed by SX or Gates Glidden drills if necessary) until the depth of #15 is reached
4. Measure and confirm working length with #15
5. Use S1 to length
6. Use S2 to length
7. Use F1 to length followed by apical gauging
8. For larger canals, use F2 to length and F3, F4 and F5 when appropriate

Motion
1. Lightly engage dentin by gently rotating the handle clockwise until the files is just snug
2. Disengage the file by rotating the handle counterclockwise 45-90 degrees
3. Repeat handle motions until desired length is achieved
4. Depending on the anatomy, Protaper files can be used as described above or by reciprocating the handle in a back and forth motion

Guidelines
1. Proper case selection(be cautious of sharp apical curvatures)
2. Establish straight line access
3. Check canal patency
4. Use instruments in a well irrigated and lubricated canal
5. Clean flutes frequently and inspect for signs of distortion
6. Use instruments with recommended motion
