5.Titanium Pipe Elbow Corrosion Properties
Excellent in nearly all cases
Poor fouling performance but immune to Microbiological Corrosion

6.Titanium Pipe Elbow Additional Uses & Comments
High strength, low density
Has been used where a 50 year life was required (Shell Troll- ballast system)
Casting is a specialist process
Very good for Acids (Nitric, Hydrochloric) and wet Chlorine too
Can be cost effective, particularly if designed to take account of high strength

7.Titanium Pipe Elbow Cautions
Welding- air must be excluded, otherwise hardening occurs.
Not resistant to Hydrofluoric Acid
Don't use Methanol to clean- causes cracking
Designs must take account of low modulus of elasticity (100 110 N/mm2)
Galling and wear properties not good
