What is TDS meter?

 A TDS Meter indicates the Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) of a solution, i.e. the concentration of dissolved solids in it. Since dissolved ionized solids such as salts and minerals increase the conductivity of a solution, a TDS meter measures the conductivity of the solution and estimates the TDS from that.

 Dissolved organic solids such as sugar and microscopic solid particles such as colloids, do not significantly affect the conductivity of a solution so a TDS meter does not include them in its reading.

 The most accurate way to measure TDS of water in a laboratory is to evaporate the water leaving behind dissolved solutes as residue and then weighing the residue.

Units of TDS  

A TDS meter typically displays the TDS in parts per million (ppm). For example, a TDS reading of 1 ppm would indicate there is 1 milligram of dissolved solids in each kilogram of water.

Instruction for the TDS meter

 1.Remove the protective cap

2.Turn the TDS meter on.

3.Immerse the meter into the water/solution up to the maximum immersion level 1(2″)

4.Waiting until the display stabillizes,the TDS meter automatically variations Once the readout is stabillized(30 to 45 seconds).press the hold button to save reading.

5.After usage,shake off water from your meter or wipe it with a tissue. 

Precautions

 Do not drop the entire TDS meter in water or dip beyond the maximum immersion level.This until is not water-tight and is not covered under the warranty if water enters the unit.

Do not store the TDS meter under high temperature or direct sunlight.This will sshorten the life-span of the product and potentially void the warranty.

 The TDS-3is calibrated at 642ppm.it is recommended that the calibration level be as close as possible to sample to be tested.If you are testing higher ppm(Member,water quality association)
