4140/1.7225 Alloy Steel is a chromium/molybdenum medium-carbon steel.
4140/1.7225 Alloy Steeloffers medium to high hardenability and good fatigue properties.
4140/1.7225 Alloy Steel has a machinability rating of 50% to 55% of a 1212 carbon steel.
4140/1.7225 Alloy Steelis sold in the annealed condition. Typical annealed hardness is BHN 217/229 Rc 17/18. Or in the pre-hardened condition BHN 262/321 Rc 26.6/34.3 with a higher surface hardness and lower center hardness.
4140/1.7225 Alloy Steelis capable of meeting ASTM-A322.
