Four-lip seals

Like double-lip seals, four-lip seals are very effective and easy to mount. However, they generate less friction and can accommodate higher shaft speeds. They replace double-seals in the size range 507 to 522. Four-lip seals are made from an injection moulded thermoplastic polyether ester elastomer (TPE), a wear-resistant material with very good elastic properties.

Operating data 
These seals are suitable for peripheral speeds of up to 13 m/s.

The maximum permissible misalignment of the shaft relative to the housing is approximately 1° for diameters up to 100 mm and approximately 0,5° for larger shafts.

The permissible operating temperature range is –40 to +100 °C.

The permissible axial movement of the shaft relative to the housing is not limited by the seal.

The counterfaces for the seals on the shaft should be ground and the surface roughness R_a should not exceed 3,2 μm. The recommended shaft tolerance is h9.

Designation 
Four-lip seals are supplied in packs of two. For housings on the end of a shaft, where an end cover is used, one seal will be left over and should be kept as a spare.

The seal designation consists of the prefix TSN followed by the size identification and the suffix L e.g. TSN 512 L.
