What is float glass ?
Float glass is derived from a mixture of raw materials including sand, limestone, dolomite, and soda ash. These materials are mixed together, and then placed into an extremely hot furnace. Once the glass has reached the desired temperature, it is stabilized, and then placed inside of a molten tin bath. Due to the reaction between the glass and the molten tin, the glass eventually makes its way to the surface of the tin bath. As soon as the glass is cool enough to handle, it is passed through two mechanical rollers.After the process of annealing it can be cut to size to make your desired product .
The biggest advantage of float glass are : high level of light transmission ,stable physical property ,smooth and good hand feeling when touch on it . easy to cut etc
What is tempered glass ?
Tempered glass is a type of glass that has increased strength on the surface by the physical or chemical treatment on the ordinary glass and increased the tensile stress inside the glass so that this kind of glass has increased the mechanical strength and the heatresistant impact strength, so collectively called Ttempered glass which can also be classified into full tempered glass and half full tempered glass (also called HOT-REINFORCED GLASS) in terms of the different treatment degrees.
The intensity of tempered glass is 3-4 times of ordinary glass and the surface stress is more than 90MPa;
when it is destroyed by external force the stress is instantaneously released subject to the reaction of the internal tensile stress, so the whole piece of glass completely becomes pellets with no sharp angles, which will greatly reduce the possibility of the body injury; and the Full Tempered Glass can resist the acute change of extreme cold and hot temperature.(The 5mm tempered glass approximately may bear 200 degrees temperature changes.)
