The ZXWL W981 is a high-grade wireless Access Controller (AC) specifically designed for government or enterprise to operate wireless broadband services. The AC can be conveniently deployed in any existing Layer-2 or Layer-3 network together with the coordinated Access Point (AP). In a layered network, the AC can be deployed at the access layer, convergence layer, and core Metropolitan Area Network (MAN). This kind of network mode of AC plus AP transfers the dense wireless network and security processing functions to the wireless AC, the AP only serves as the device to transmit and receive wireless data, the mode can effectively simplify the management and configuration functions of the AP.

The ZXWL W981 product adopts advanced network processing technology and switching bus technology with powerful hardware forwarding capability and flexible protocol processing capability. It enhances a range of functions, including user management, network security, billing and network management.

The ZXWL W981 product provides a wide variety of Internet access modes with multiple user access methods, network protocols and flexible billing modes. It also provides flexible interface configuration and well-developed network security mechanisms, especially those to tackle large traffic data attacks on the device. In addition, it has out-of-band network management with security measures and abundant network management modes to facilitate network management.

1. Unified Deployment and Centralized Management

The W981 suits large-size and medium-sized wireless networks. When a wireless AC network is equipped with a coordinated AP, it is only necessary to set up a configuration template on the wireless AC for APs with the same attributes. When the AP starts, it automatically downloads the latest configuration file from the wireless AC. Therefore, the W981 truly achieves the features of zero configuration, maintenance-free capability, plug-and-plug, and automatic updates.

2. Flexible Data Forwarding Mode

The ZXWL W981 supports the centralized forwarding mode of CAPWAP tunnel and the local forwarding mode of access points.

3. User Authentication and Access Control Function

The ZXWL W981 supports the built-in BAS function to fulfill access, control and management of users. It provides the operators with excellent wireless network management and integrated user access control plan to reduce customers’ investment and develop wireless services rapidly in the scenarios without BAS.

4. Intelligent Radio Optimization

The ZXWL W981 supports automatic frequency and power adjustment. It makes network deployment much easier through the automatic RF planning. Meanwhile, it supports bandwidth control according to the user or the user group.

5. Green Network Access

As the ZXWL W981 can turn on/off the AP accessing service at regular time, the AC can control the WLAN network servicing time of users with low carbon and power consumption.

6. Built-in BRAS

The BRAS is a built-in W981. It provides user access, control and management abilities. The built-in BRAS can reduce investment and quickly launch WLAN services for carriers who have no BRAS in their current operation networks.

7. Smooth Upgrade from a Stand-alone AP to a Coordinated AP

The ZXWL W981 can smoothly upgrade an AP from a stand-alone AP to a coordinated one. After the upgrade, the stand-alone AP can be managed by the AC in an operating network. The ZXWL W981 also supports automatic upgrade for a stand-alone AP. When the AP starts, it automatically searches for the wireless AC to associate with, and automatically downloads the latest software version from the AC, which greatly reduces the workload on network maintenance.
