High Impact Polystyrene Sheet (HIPS) is an inexpensive, lightweight plastic typically used for handling-trays which accommodate lightweight products.
HIPS has marginal resistance to impact and tearing, although it can be modified with a rubber additive to improve its durability.
HIPS for Printing
High Impact Polystyrene (HIPS) offers a consistent, easily printed matte surface for either one or two sided printing applications. This polystyrene product, available in HIPS sheet or rollstock form, is especially suitable for Lithographic or Flexographic printing of displays, POP graphics, signs, translights, tags and cards.

High Impact Polystyrene (HIPS) is perfect to be formed for demanding end-use applications in the food, dairy, and medical packaging industries. PROCESSING
HIPS Sheet&Products can be thermoformed in standard thermoforming ovens. Sheet material can be formed over wood, composite and aluminum cooled tooling. Due to the amorphous properties of HIPS, it is typically one of the easier polymer sheet materials to form. Care should be taken in forming to heat the sheet evenly. Stock temperatures of approximately 300° F - 350° F are
recommended for proper forming.
FINISHING
HIPS Sheet&Products can be fabricated by using standard techniques such as drilling, routing, and cutting with a die, laser or water jet. Mechanical screws and other type of fasteners can be used.

PS:a.Advantage:very easy to be vacuum thermoformed and it is environmental material.Always molded into trays,including flocky trays.Widely used in electron,medical,food,cosmetic,hardware and so on. b.Disadvantage:relatively speaking,it is a bit fragile and easy to be torn off. PP:a.Advantage:high melting point and can be microwaveable.Widely used in food packaging. b.Disadvantage:shrink material,not easy to be vacuum thermoformed;has not passed the Halogen Free test but it is food grade material. PET:PET has two types,one is APET,the other is PETG.Both have high transparency and are environmental material.APET could not be sealed by our machine but PETG can.PETG is the only one which has passed the Halogen Free test. |
