Martensitic stainless steel

Martensitic stainless steels are high carbon-chromium steels. They have been developed for ready processing and a range

of applications after cold rolling. Our product range includes steels with improved corrosion resistance.

Typical applications of our martensitic stainless steels include:

* razor blades

* surgical knives

* scissors

* cutlery

* pressure diaphragms

* valve components

* bacon slicers

* circlips

Careful control of steel chemistry ensures that our martensitic stainless steels can be readily processed after annealing

and descaling. These processes include hot forming / forging, cold rolling, stamping / blanking, heat treatment, grinding

and polishing. Our high carbon razor grades W.-Nr. 1.4037 ( DIN X65Cr13 ), AISI 420D can be hardened and tempered to approximately 700 HV ( depending upon austenitising temperature, tempering temperature and quenching medium ).

420 stainless steel grade contains five types by its different carbon content.

AISI 420A   -  W.-Nr. 1.4021 ( DIN X20Cr13 )  - JIS SUS420J1

AISI 420B   - W.-Nr. 1.4028 ( DIN X30Cr13 )  - JIS SUS420J2

AISI 420C  -  W.-Nr. 1.4034 ( DIN X46Cr13 )  - 420C, 420HC

AISI 420     -  W.-Nr. 1.4031 ( DIN X39Cr13 )

AISI 420D  -  W.-Nr. 1.4037 ( DIN X46Cr13 )
