         What is FACE MILL?       

1.A face mill is an endmill optimized for facing cuts, featuring a short aspect ratio of length to diameter and a multitude of teeth, allowing high feedrates by distributing the chip load.

2.Some face mills are solid in construction, but many others feature indexable teeth, with the cutter body (with the appropriate machine taper) designed to hold multiple disposable carbide or ceramic tips or inserts, often golden in color.

3.The tips are not designed to be resharpened and are selected from a range of types that may be determined by various criteria, some of which may be: tip shape, cutting action required, material being cut.

4.When the tips are blunt, they may be removed, rotated (indexed) and replaced to present a fresh, sharp face to the workpiece.

5.This increases the life of the tip and thus its economical cutting life.
