With a surface roughness of 0.00022mm UHMWPE Pipe is extremely smooth and has resultant properties superior to PTFE (Teflon). Quantifying by example UHMWPE has a friction coefficient of 0.05, compared to 0.28 for HDPE or 0.58 for Steel (ISO 8295).

This means less friction, less pressure loss and greatly reduced energy inputs to deliver the same result.

Chemical and Corrosion Resistance

With chemical resistance second only to PTFE (Teflon), UHMWPE pipe will offer superior life to other pipeline products in acidic or corrosive applications under 85 degrees C.

Lower Installation Costs

The strength of UHMWPE pipes can offer many savings in installation costs:

• High compressive strength means reduced size or eliminating excavations (greater than 1.5x that of HDPE)
• Combination of strength and flexibility (>250% tensile elongation) means concrete bases are not required on wetlands and difficult terrain
• High strength and flexibility provides greater protection against damage due to ground subsidence, earthquakes or other unexpected movement and loading of the pipeline
• Can be laid directly on the seabed

 How to Select Dredging Pipeline Floaters?

The polyethylene floaters are usually used for the dredging projects, land reclamation projects in the world. They are the ideal floating material for pipelines.

  When choosing the floaters, we must know the following points:

 1.   Buoyancy: usually the buoyancy need to be 30% higher than the pipelines weights(including 1.3 ration slurries). When the pipeline working, the floaters above the water surface should be about 1/4 of the height of steel pipes.

2.   Weight: no less 3-5% than the ordered goods. The weight of the floaters is related to the hull weight and the foam’s density and volume. The foam density should be about 35kg/m³.

3.  Plastify strength: the plasticized well floaters will have a flat and smooth surface without obvious particles, with best tensile strength

4.   Foam’s density: about 35kg/m³,with tensile strength of 0.2 Mpa. There is a little bit flexibility without stick and crisp. The floaters have such properties will be the best and most durable floaters.
